All About Sushi
Scope: Coffee Table Book
This is a coffee table book about sushi: including history, etiquette, basics and a vocabulary section. I did research and photo shoots for 8 weeks. I went to a Japanese grocery store in DC called Hana Japanese Market on the U Street Corridor. The sale attendant there doesn’t speak very good English, but he was very helpful. I purchased all the ingredients to make traditional sushi and then set up a time with a photographer friend to shoot the items. I visited numerous restaurants, Thai Chef, Bonsai, Cafe Asia. I still would like to visit Sushi Taro, rated number 1 in DC. The cover of the book is wrapped in seaweed paper and a theme of cherry blossoms is graphically displayed throughout. I am staying with a simple, minimalist style to represent the Japanese style.
